12 Last Songs

Events Feb 15 State Theatre Centre of WA

174 / 176 William St, Perth, WA 6000

Description

For one show only, from midday until midnight, see people from around Perth perform paid shifts in front of a live audience.

30 workers. 12 hours. Made for and with the people of Perth. 2 Last Songs is about work and how we spend our time. Making a living. Finding your passion. Watching the clock.

All sorts of people from Perth turn up to perform a shift, talking about what they do and how they see the world. A decorator might paper a wall, a nail technician apply a fresh set, a barista serve up a coffee. A sex worker, FIFO worker or shark spotter might detail their day (or night!).

Part live exhibition, part epic performance, 12 Last Songs is an unusual, joyful and touching work that invites you to meet people you may not encounter in your everyday life. Over the 12 hours you can come and go as you please, stay as long or as little as you like and witness a portrait of Perth through its people.

Directed by Richard Gregory, 12 Last Songs is by Manchester-based ensemble Quarantine (UK), known around the world for their forensic interest in daily life.
