Origin of name and history
In 1977 the suburb was originally named ‘Alinjarra’, an Aboriginal word for ‘north’. It was renamed Alexander Heights on 24 December 1987 honouring S.B. Alexander, a Road Board member who was active in civic and community affairs in the area.
The heritage listed Alexander Heights Park, previously known as Green Park was created as part of the residential subdivision of Alexander Heights in the late 1970s. A portion of the park is named in honour of Ian Robbins who was a respected and well-known figure within the Alexander Heights community.
