Description
Flowers are a huge source of creativity for me. I now combine my love of flowers and my passion for photography by gardening, creating floral art, and with the production of my cards.
Being Scandinavian I loved English cottage gardens originally, however since living in Western Australia, I have developed a passion for Australian flowers. I find them so photogenic! I adore their colours, shapes, textures. They make wonderful motifs for my cards.
A course of study of Australian flora, led me to appreciate the intricacy of floral life: how flowers grow to best attract bees and insects, how protective prickly leaves are and how Australian flowers have evolved with time and adapted to climatic conditions ..... and how I love the prickly leaves in floral arrangements! My history with flowers has led me to create a garden that is my inspiration and a larder of beautiful blooms, leaves and seeds. However, I call myself a realistic gardener - if plants and trees don't grow with ease they are not for my garden!
I collect second hand bowls, vases and vessels to hold and enhance my floral arrangements. I create wild wreaths that can be decorative throughout the year. I especially enjoy combining dried cottage plants with Australian native plants. In dried arrangements they blend together in new and exciting ways.
