Beachport Conservation Park

Beachport Conservation Park is a magnificent protected area located in the Limestone Coast of South Australia.

Initially established in 1959 as a reserve, the park has undergone several changes to its status and name. Sections 5, 31, 32, 40, and 58 of the Hundred of Lake George were proclaimed as the Beachport National Park on 19 September 1968. It was subsequently proclaimed as a historic reserve under the Aboriginal and Historic Relics Act 1965 on 25 September 1969. With the introduction of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972, the park's status was upgraded, and on 27 April 1972, it was reconstituted as the Beachport Conservation Park. The conservation park is now classified as an IUCN Category VI protected area, managed primarily for the sustainable use of natural ecosystems and wildlife.

Beachport Conservation Park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, creating an excellent location for nature lovers and birdwatchers. The park's rugged coastline, sheltered bays, and lagoons provide a range of habitats for animals such as kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, possums, and over ninety bird species. Visitors can learn about the park's remarkable past at the nearby visitor centre.
