Description

Located on the Blackbutt Range in Queensland, Benarkin State Forest offers a serene and natural environment for visitors to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Whether you're looking for a family picnic, an opportunity to fish or spot platypuses, hike or enjoy a relaxed ride on forest trails, this forest has something for everyone.

One of the best ways to experience the beauty of Benarkin State Forest is by taking the unsealed 16-kilometre scenic forest drive. The scenic drive offers an amazing opportunity to wend your way through the rainforest, hoop pine plantations, and eucalyptus forests, which are home to blackbutt, tallowwood, white mahogany, gums and ironbarks. Once you reach your destination, you can relax in the small flats beside the inviting waters of Emu Creek. Emu Creek is a tributary of the Brisbane River and offers a breathtaking view for visitors to Benarkin State Forest.

There are two excellent camping areas within Benarkin State Forest, offering overnight stays and each offers something different. You can choose from a range of camping experiences from tents to caravans and motorhomes all while enjoying the tranquil Emu Creek. Clancys camping area accommodates family campers and pets can join too, but must be on a leash at all times.

Benarkin State Forest offers various options for nature hikes and rides. For instance, visitors can walk or ride mountain bikes or horses on the Bicentennial National Trail, the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail or on formed roads and tracks (except where signed or when access is restricted due to timber harvesting activities). Trail bikes can ride on some parts of the park trail for an adrenaline rush.
