Blackwood River National Park

Blackwood River National Park is a serene 204.75 km2 park located in the south-west of Western Australia.

It covers the middle stretch of the Blackwood River, the largest river in South West Australia. The park is a great option for nature and adventure enthusiasts, offering a peaceful retreat into Australia's natural beauty.

The Blackwood River starts from a plateau in the park's east and flows westwards through the park, turning south at the park's western end to empty into the Southern Ocean. It is mostly surrounded by state forest lands, such as Blackwood State Forest, South Blackwood State Forest, and Milyeannup State Forest. The park adjoins Wiltshire-Butler National Park on the north and an unnamed national park on the west.

The park is unique because it extends over two different bioregions: the Jarrah Forest bioregion in the north and the Warren bioregion in the south. The forests of the park are home to diverse flora and fauna, including parrots, owls, wallabies, and kangaroos.

Visitors to Blackwood River National Park can enjoy various recreational activities. The park features two campgrounds, Warner Glen and Sues Bridge, where visitors can access the river for swimming, canoeing, and kayaking. There are also walking trails to explore the park's wildlife and flora.

Conservation is a priority in Blackwood River National Park. It was created by the Reserves (National Parks, Conservation Parks, and Nature Reserves) Bill 2004, which redesignated lands from four state forests to create the new national park. The park was also featured in the Regional Forest Agreement for the South-West Forest Region of Western Australia
