Description

Bool Lagoon Game Reserve and Hacks Lagoon Conservation Park is a protected area located in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia.

It is a seasonal wetland that provides refuge for rare and endangered bird species. The park is listed as "Bool and Hacks Lagoons" to the List of Wetlands of International Importance maintained by the Ramsar Convention. It attracts up to 150 species of birds, including migratory species from the Northern Hemisphere.

Visitors to Bool Lagoon Game Reserve can drive to the top of Big Hill to see the entire wetland system. They can also visit Little Bool Lagoon, which is a popular venue for waterbirds. There are boardwalks and bird hides at both lagoons for birdwatching. Brolgas, commonly associated with northern Australia, are among the spectacular bird species found in the area.

Bool Lagoon Game Reserve is located on the Limestone Coast, approximately four hours' drive southeast of Adelaide. It is accessible from Naracoorte, which is about 24 km away. Visitors can reach Naracoorte by car, bus, or train. Camping is available in the park, with fees of $17.50 per night, subject to availability. Alternatively, visitors can choose to stay in Naracoorte or nearby towns, where various accommodations are available.
