Boorganna Nature Reserve is a protected area of subtropical rainforest located on the Comboyne Plateau in New South Wales, Australia.
It is the second oldest nature reserve in the state and is managed by the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service. The reserve is home to various forest types, including sub tropical rainforest, and notable species such as large rosewood, yellow carabeen, and small leaf fig.
Located northwest of Taree, the reserve is accessible via Port Macquarie and Tamworth. It features a picnic area with chairs and tables, a lookout to Rawson Falls, walking trails, and an information board. Boorganna Nature Reserve is situated 32 kilometers north of Taree, 35 kilometers southwest from Wauchope, and approximately 6 kilometers from the town of Comboyne.
The reserve receives an average annual rainfall of 1,930 millimeters and has a sub-tropical climate. Its elevation range of 360 to 732 meters makes it cooler than the neighboring coast. The area's soils are derived from Miocene basalt, providing a deep red loam. The western area of the reserve has eroded, forming cliffs, rocks, and shallow soils. Various rocks, including pebbly mudstone, conglomerate siltstone, shale, and serpentinite outcrops, can be found here.
Boorganna Nature Reserve is home to a wide range of animal species, including bats, wallabies, possums, gliders, spotted quoll, platypus, and various birds. Over a hundred bird species have been recorded in the reserve, including rainforest pigeons, the noisy pitta, green catbird, and figbird. The reserve
