Description

Bourke's Lookout is a popular hiking trail located in the Dandenong Ranges National Park just outside of Melbourne, Victoria.

The trail covers a length of 2.3 km and an elevation gain of 339 m, making it a challenging hike that takes an average of 1 hour and 34 minutes to complete.

The trail offers stunning views of Melbourne and the surrounding areas from the lookout point at the top. It is a popular spot for birdwatching, hiking, and running. The first 1 km of the trail follows Glasgow Track up a steep hill, gaining over 300 m in this short distance. After the uphill climb, hikers will turn right onto Kyeema Track, a fire trail that leads to Bourke's Lookout. The view from the lookout is spectacular, overlooking Melbourne and the bay. There are also other trails that extend from Bourke's Lookout through the native bushland and rainforests of Dandenong Ranges National Park.

The trail is open year-round, and it is possible to enjoy it any time of the year. In winter, it can be damp and slippery. It is recommended to wear proper hiking shoes and take hiking poles for extra security.

To access Bourke's Lookout trail, go to the corner of Glasgow Rd and Jubilee Rd in Montrose, Victoria. The trailhead starts here, and there is parking available. The trailhead can also be reached via the Ridge Road Bus service from Croydon or Ferntree Gully.
