Description
Brash Higgins is a winery located in the gorgeous McLaren Vale wine region, in South Australia.
Brash Higgins produce minimal intervention wines, drawing on both natural and traditional techniques. They seek to capture the essence of McLaren Vale’s sun and soil, the elusive characters of the fruit, and the whims of their own restless muse.
Their first release, the 2011 Nero d’Avola, upended what people thought they knew about both the grape and the region. Since then, Brash Higgins have continued to push the boundaries, moving seamlessly between old world and new school approaches to winemaking and viticulture.
Omensetter Winery & Vineyard is their physical and spiritual home. This is where they grow their certified organic Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Nero d’Avola, and Crystal fruit, and where they ferment many of their wines in locally-made clay amphoras. Planted in 1997, the vineyard sits on a great patch of dirt on the south-western lip of McLaren Vale, offering grand views of both the Willunga Escarpment and Gulf of St. Vincent.
