Brookfield Multiplex wanted instant impact using quality trees throughout public open space areas and streetscapes in its Vale project.

The client requested the feel of an established suburb. To achieve the feeling of establishment, they required large, mature trees as opposed to saplings, which are common through new developments.

In order to meet the demands of the project, Ellenby invested in infrastructure to properly support Brookfield Multiplex’s requirements. As growing trees for a large project is always difficult, careful planning and flexibility as well as contingency plans in case of vandalism or damage were a major partof the strategy put in place by Ellenby Tree Farm to ensure the project’s success.
Tree species were carefully selected for their ability to provide large shade canopies, offering relief from hot summer sun.

Deciduous trees were selected due to their ability to be grown to a large size within the Ellenby nursery, thereby providing instant impact and ongoing relieffrom the development process. The trees are now considered to be a major contributing factor in Vale’s flourishing success.
