Description
Brownlow Beach is a peaceful small beachfront settlement located 2 km south of Kingscote.
The settlement measures approximately 1.5 km and is fronted with a narrow high tide beach, then sand flats that widen from 300 m in the north to 900 m in the south. The views of the beachfront are breathtaking, with the white sand contrasting with the blue ocean.
Brownlow Beach offers beautiful views of the ocean, making it perfect for taking long walks along the beach at any time of the day. You can also engage in fishing activities along the beach or take a dip in Kingscote Pool which is located 5 km away from Brownlow Beach. You can stroll down the beach to the northern side of the Cygnet River mouth and enjoy the beautiful sights of the 500 m long spits.
The best time for visiting Brownlow Beach is during the Australian summer season, from December to February, where temperatures range from 20°C to 30°C. Visitors can relish the sunny days or go for a swim in the nearby Kingscote Pool.
To get to Brownlow Beach, visitors coming from Adelaide can either take a direct flight to Kingscote, Kangaroo Island’s airport, or take the ferry from Cape Jervis which takes approximately 45 minutes. From Kingscote, which is a 5-minute drive, follow the signs to Brownlow Beach or use public transport.
