Description

Bungonia State Conservation Area is a protected area located in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia.

It was created in July 1974 and covers an area of 3237 hectares. The area is known for its dramatic cliffs, gorges, and network of caves, which make it a popular destination for adventure activities such as caving, walking, canyoning, abseiling, rock climbing, and canoeing. The park is also used for camping, sightseeing, and scientific research.

One of the main features of the area is the Bungonia Gorge, which is a deep canyon that has been carved out by the Bungonia Creek. The Lookdown is a nearby lookout that offers stunning views of the Shoalhaven River, Bungonia Gorge, and Bungonia Creek. Many fossils can be found along the various walking tracks in the area.

The park is managed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), which maintains several campgrounds and walking trails throughout the park. Bungonia State Conservation Area has basic facilities such as picnic tables, toilets, and barbecues. There are also several campsites available for visitors who wish to stay overnight.
