Description
Callide Dam Dumgree is a scenic lake located just 12 kilometres away from Biloela, Queensland.
There are well-maintained roads leading towards the lake, which is approximately 90 kilometres southwest from Gladstone via the Dawson Highway.
Callide Dam is an ideal place for fishing enthusiasts, especially those seeking golden perch (yellowbelly) and barra mundi. The lake is compact, however it offers an abundance of red-claw that is worth placing traps for, for catching these delicious crayfish. You can try bank fishing on the lake's banks, but visitors recommend launching a boat using the provided boat ramps to follow the fish with a sounder, which enhances your chances of a successful catch. A variety of other freshwater species are also available to you.
In addition to fishing, visitors can explore the beautiful lakeside scenery while barbecuing with family and friends under the upgraded picnic shelters. Those who prefer a more private and luxurious experience also have access to corporate shelter options. Young travellers can play on the modern playground facility, which was added in recent years as part of the picnic and recreation area upgrade.
Travellers can enjoy the view of the lake and its beautiful surroundings throughout the year. Weather conditions such as temperatures tend to be favourable at this time, and it’s often the best time to catch a variety of fish species.
Callide Dam Dumgree is conveniently located just 12 kilometres off the main road heading to Biloela, and approximately 90 kilometres southwest from Gladstone via the Dawson highway. There is ample car parking available at the lake for visitors.
