Callide Dam is an ideal place for fishing enthusiasts, especially those seeking golden perch (yellowbelly) and barra mundi. The lake is compact, however it offers an abundance of red-claw that is worth placing traps for, for catching these delicious crayfish. You can try bank fishing on the lake's banks, but visitors recommend launching a boat using the provided boat ramps to follow the fish with a sounder, which enhances your chances of a successful catch. A variety of other freshwater species are also available to you.

In addition to fishing, visitors can explore the beautiful lakeside scenery while barbecuing with family and friends under the upgraded picnic shelters.
