Description

Canning River Regional Park is the largest regional park in the Perth metropolitan area, located on both sides of the Canning River.

It is a major tributary of the Swan River in southwestern Western Australia.

There is no available information about the history of the park. The park sits on Bassendean sands and is home to various flora and fauna species.

Access throughout the park is provided by paths and walk tracks. There are four marked interpretive walk trails in the park, each offering a unique perspective on the surroundings. The park is accessible by various means, including vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles, boats, canoes, and wheelchairs.

Canning River Regional Park Volunteers work to maintain and restore the park's environmental values. They aim to promote conservation and passive recreation in the area and carry out activities funded through community grants and corporate programs.

The City of Canning and the Department of Environment and Conservation are responsible for maintaining different sections of the park. They carry out activities such as weeding, re-vegetation, and hand watering to preserve the environmental values of the park.

Arson has been a growing problem in the park and the wider Perth area. The Arson Task Force has established a reward scheme to help convict arsonists, offering rewards of up to A$25,000 for informants.
