Capel Sound Beach

Capel Sound Beach stretches 3.8 kilometres across Capel Sound and Tootgarook, offering a pristine swimming environment.

The beach is perfect for camping and boating, while the boardwalk abutting the Chinaman's Creek Nature Reserve provides easy access to the white sandy beaches and colourful bathing boxes along this pretty stretch of beach. The water is crystal clear, and deeper patches are lovely to swim in.

Opposite Burdett St in Tootgarook, there is a boat ramp available for launching boats from spring until the end of April. The ramp is free to use, and no fees apply to launch. The foreshore reserve has grassy, powered, and unpowered camping sites located along with it. Some of the campsites have absolute beach frontage, while all sites are within easy access to the beach and shops.

A public toilet and outdoor shower are located on the 'Boardwalk' beach access point, and local cafes and restaurants are right across the street, which visitors can visit to grab some refreshments.

Capel Sound Beach is pet-friendly, but the rules and regulations around pets’ usage at the beach change throughout the year. Visitors are advised to check the guidelines and rules around pet usage at the beach before visiting with a furry friend.
