During summer, the trail is ideal for hiking or mountain biking. The 10-kilometre one-way distance from Dead Horse Gap to Cascades Hut is perfect for beginners and experts alike. Bob's Ridge, a high point on the trail, offers a picturesque view of the Murray River valley in Victoria through binoculars.
In winter, the trail is great for cross-country skiing and snowshoe touring, as the trail transforms into a snowy terrain.
During the spring season, the area is filled with the beauty of blooming wildflowers. A perfect sign hinting at the return of the warmer months.
If you are keen to take your skills up to the next level, continue past the Tin Mine huts to the Nine Mile trail and on Barry Way. It is an apt challenge for experienced hikers who are up for a more challenging trek.
Cascade Hut Trail is open all year round. Summer is a perfect time to hike or bike, winter for snowshoeing or skiing, and spring for blooming wildflowers. It is advisable to check with the national park office to stay updated on any closures or changes.
