Cave Point Lighthouse

Cave Point Lighthouse, located in the Torndirrup National Park in Western Australia, was built in 1976.

It is one of two Australian Corpas-Sarsat Satellite ground receiver stations, with the other site located in Queensland.

Although the lighthouse is no longer operational, the 12-meter tall cylindrical concrete tower with a gallery attached to a 1-story circular concrete building still stands. The original lantern room and lens have been replaced by a Cospas-Sarsat satellite-aided search and rescue ground receiver. Visitors can observe the dome of the satellite system instead of a normal lantern room and lens.

The lighthouse is situated on the point in Torndirrup National Park, which is also home to the natural bridge, a well-known natural attraction. While the tower is closed, visitors can take a short hike to enjoy the stunning views of the coast and the lighthouse atop the peninsular point.

To reach Cave Point Lighthouse, visitors can drive to the end of The Gap Road, approximately 15 km south of Albany, and then take a short hike. Another sign provides information about the Cospas-Sarsat system.
