Description

Challenger Beach is a small bay located in Kwinana, Western Australia.

It is situated at the foot of a coastal limestone ridge and is protected from morning summer easterly winds. The beach is also harbored by both the Kwinana Grain Terminal and the BP Oil Refinery. It is approximately 2 km long, extending from the northern groyne to the end of the 600 m long jetty.

Challenger Beach is a popular destination for picnics and barbecues. It offers excellent picnic and barbecue facilities, tables with good shade cover, plenty of open space, and well-maintained lawn areas. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities such as swimming, fishing, and boating. The beach is patrolled by Surf Life Saving Western Australia, and visitors are advised to swim between the flags. There are also amenities available, including toilets, showers, and change rooms.

In addition to the beach, visitors can find a playground and a state-of-the-art destination park nearby, the Kwinana Adventure Park. The park offers a range of features for children, including a 9-meter high tower with a slide, a 30-meter double flying fox, and a water play area.

Challenger Beach is part of the City of Kwinana Coastal Reserve, which also includes Kwinana Beach and Wells Park. The area is part of the City of Kwinana's Coastal Adaptation Plan, which aims to protect the coastline from the impacts of climate change.
