Description
Premium Barossa Red wines from Charles Melton are crafted to reflect the rhythm of the seasons, the richness of our earth and the quiet patience of its people.
At Charles Melton Wines, great emphasis is placed on the quality of fruit. All grapes are dry grown and harvested from the winery’s own 50 acres of prime Barossa vineyard land, as well as from a select group of grapegrowers.
Cellar Door
Visit their unique cellar door and enjoy a tasting of our range of premium wines in a rustic and cosy setting. Guests can also enjoy a glass or bottle of wine and a cheese board on the front verandah and lawns, alongside old bush vine Grenache, complemented with spectacular views of the Barossa Ranges.
History
Charles Melton Wines has produced premium Barossa red wines, at our winery on Krondorf Road, since 1984. It was in the mid 1980's that Charlie and a small band of Barossa winemakers turned their winemaking efforts to what was considered then to be a couple of unfashionable varieties; Shiraz and Grenache.
With these varieties, Charlie built a small range of classic dry reds including a Grenache/Shiraz/Mataro blend called the Nine Popes. These wines were initially styled on those from the Rhone but are now considered leading examples of the varieties in their own right.
