Description
City Garden Lodge is a backpacker accommodation located in Parnell, on the fringe of Auckland's CBD.
The lodge is housed in a historic building that was originally built as the New Zealand Embassy for the Queen of Tonga. The main house is divided into rooms and dorms, and there are also tents available in the gardens. The lodge offers a range of facilities, including covered bicycle storage, self-service guest laundry, and a fully equipped kitchen with indoor and outdoor dining areas. There is also a large BBQ located amongst the spacious gardens.
Each room has a desk, heating, fans, and views of the garden. Guests have access to male and female shared bathrooms. The lodge is surrounded by trees and lawns, with plenty of birdlife. Free perks include WiFi and self-parking. Other highlights include a terrace and a garden. Fellow travelers say good things about the helpful staff and WiFi.
City Garden Lodge is only a 3-minute walk from the Link Bus to Auckland's city centre with Parnell’s restaurants, cafes, and art galleries on the doorstep. It is a 20-minute walk to Vector Arena. For people who like to be in the centre of things without heavy traffic outside, this is the real backpackers’ experience in one of Auckland’s oldest residential areas, full of historic architecture and character. Next door to Auckland’s largest city park with its museum and twice daily Maori concert performances—and with “Vector Arena” Auckland’s newest concert venue and sports stadium just 10 minutes walk away.
