Description

Columbey National Park is a natural playground for nature and wildlife enthusiasts located in Clarence Town, New South Wales, Australia.

Situated in the Hunter Region, it offers an enjoyable trail for visitors through the beautiful New South Wales countryside.

The park offers 8km of forest trails for horse riding, wildlife watching, and a variety of other outdoor activities. Visitors can explore unmarked forest trails on foot or by mountain bike, venture off-road into the bushlands, or climb up Gilmore Hill for a view over the park. Along the Williams River, eastern grey kangaroos, swamp wallabies, and birds such as the yellow-tailed black cockatoo can be spotted.

Mild year-round temperatures mean that visitors can enjoy the park at any time of year. Wildflowers are an added drawcard in spring, and visitors can escape the crowds of coastal resorts in summer (December through February) and enjoy the relative shade of the woodlands. Alternatively, visitors can visit in winter when they might have the entire place to themselves.

Although there are no campgrounds in Columbey National Park, campers can find options in Twelve Mile Creek to the south or Clarence town to the north. Columbey National Park is 23km northeast of Maitland in New South Wales, Australia. The main entry-point to the park is off Clarence Town Road.
