Description
Coogee Beach is a stunning stretch of sand located just half an hour from Perth's city centre.
With almost 4 kilometres of turquoise-fringed coastline, it was recently named as one of Australia's best 15 beaches. Coogee provides ample opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts to explore walking trails, soak up the sun, and explore the underwater wonderland.
At the northern end of the beach, the Coogee Maritime Trail offers a circular snorkelling and diving route. Located around 25 metres from the shore, the trail allows visitors to get up close to the shipwrecked Omeo, which sank in 1905. The trail also features sculptures, art installations, and abundant marine life, including stingrays, seals, and dolphins. Snorkelling and diving gear are available for hire on the beach.
Visitors can observe the races, enjoy the scenic views, or even sign up for sailing lessons.
For history enthusiasts, Woodman Point is located nearby and offers the opportunity to explore the area's rich past. The historic jetty is a popular fishing spot and provides a picturesque location for picnics.
Coogee Beach is an ideal destination year-round, but the most popular time to visit is during Perth's summer season from December to February. The sun is at its brightest, and the water is most inviting.
To get to Coogee Beach, visitors can drive via the Kwinana Freeway, which takes
