Description
Corroboree Park is a semicircular park in Ainslie, Canberra, Australia, established around 1925.
It holds significance as it reflects the Aboriginal use of the region before European settlement. The park is home to the 'Corroboree Tree' and is registered as a heritage site due to its historical value.
Within Corroboree Park, you will find the Ainslie Community Hall, a wooden hall built in 1927. Adjacent to it is a 1920s schoolhouse that was relocated to the park. The hall has been repaired after a fire in 2000 and has undergone internal upgrades, including the addition of a commercial kitchen. It is used for various social gatherings, meetings, and classes.
The Ainslie Tennis Club, established in 1927, contributed to the park by planting trees and constructing three courts with voluntary labor. The park also features an asphalt basketball court, a small cricket pitch, and a children's playground. The Corroboree Community Hall, managed by Northside Community Service, represents the northside of Canberra's ACT government.
Corroboree Park is located in the heritage area of Corroboree Park Housing Precinct. It is close to the Ainslie Shops and the Ainslie Football Club. Visitors can consider staying at the Mercure Canberra for accommodations.
