Cox Scrub Conservation Park

Cox Scrub Conservation Park, formerly known as Cox's Scrub National Park, is a protected area in South Australia.

It is located in the localities of Ashbourne and Nangkita, about 55 km south of Adelaide. The park covers sections 1972 and 1979 to 1985, spanning across the Hundred of Kondoparinga, with a total area of 5.44 sq. km as of 2018.

The conservation park preserves an uncommon vegetation type typical of the Mount Lofty Ranges. The main vegetation consists of a low Eucalyptus baxteri open forest over banksia scrub. This unique habitat supports a diverse range of bird species, including the threatened scaly thrush and the beautiful firetail. Notable mammal species found in the park include the local-endangered Isoodon obesulus and the near-northern Rattus lutreolus.

The park occupies an area of undulating sands overlying ironstone. Dominant vegetation types range from an open scrub to low open forest of Eucalyptus baxteri, E. cosmophylla, and E. fasciculosa over a heath understorey, primarily dominated by Banksia ornata. Additionally, vast areas of almost pure sand heath, dominated by Banksia ornata, with Hakea, Casuarina, Grevillea, Acacia, and Calytrix species, can also be found in the park.

The park remains in a minimally disturbed condition, with the only previous land use being beekeeping. Introduced plant species are scarce, and rabbit populations are abundant. Cox Scrub Conservation Park has been classified as an I
