Crows Nest National Park

Crows Nest National Park is a rugged natural haven located on the southern edge of the Darling Downs of southern Queensland.

Initially a 236 ha national park in 1967, it has now been expanded to cover 17.9 km2 (6.91 sq mi) and has an average elevation of 503 meters.

The park features a unique landscape dominated by domed granite outcrops and mainly consists of open eucalypt forest. Visitors can also find species such as hoop pine, weeping bottlebrush, river she-oak, and swamp mahogany along the creek banks. Crows Nest Creek, the major watercourse in the park, is a tributary of Cressbrook Creek, which itself is a tributary of the Brisbane River. The park also has around 4% of riverine wetlands.

One of the park's highlights is the Valley of Diamonds, known for its rugged terrain, network of waterfalls, and sparkling gorge. The valley gets its name from the mineral feldspar, which reflects its glory in the sunlight. Visitors can enjoy lookout points, observe wildflowers, birdlife, and diverse wildlife. The park is also home to 10 rare or threatened species, including the brush-tailed rock-wallaby.

Crows Nest National Park provides various amenities, including lookouts, walking tracks, and facilities for picnics and camping. Visitors are required to pay fees to access these facilities.
