Cycle Remutaka

Cycle Remutaka is a popular bike ride and walkway in Lower Hutt, New Zealand.

The trail climbs gently out of the valley and into the bushy hills along the Remutaka Rail Trail. It is a peaceful and scenic ride that is suitable for both beginner and advanced cyclists. The Remutaka Cycle Trail traverses Petone, Lower Hutt city, Upper Hutt city, Remutaka Ranges, South Wairarapa, and the south-east coast. It can be ridden in either direction and completed pleasurably in 2-3 days. Petone is the natural starting point, although Maymorn in Upper Hutt and Featherston in the Wairarapa are also popular. All can be reached on the Wellington to Wairarapa train service that stops at various other stations close to the trail.Easy access points along the Hutt Valley and Wairarapa sections make it easy to tailor a shorter ride for individual abilities and interests.
