Description
Damper Creek Reserve is an 11-hectare bushland reserve located in Alice Street, Mount Waverley, Victoria.
It follows the Damper Creek watercourse and has interpretative signage to guide visitors through the parkland. The reserve offers a 1.5 km unsealed walking path and an extensive playground with various equipment. It is rich in indigenous flora and fauna, with species such as the southern bell frog, grey-headed flying fox, and gang-gang cockatoo.
Visitors can enjoy hiking, walking, and running in the peaceful bushland setting. The 2.4 km loop trail takes about 31 minutes to complete and is suitable for families, children, and dog walkers. The trail is well-maintained and mostly easy, with only one section having steps. Dogs are allowed off-lead in some areas, as long as they are well-behaved and under voice command. Visitors should pick up dog droppings and carry a lead at all times.
The best time to visit Damper Creek Reserve is from September to April when the weather is mild. This allows visitors to enjoy the scenery and natural surroundings without worrying about rain or extreme temperatures. The reserve is accessible via Alice Street, with parking available at the entrance. Bins, seats, and picnic tables are provided, but there are no drinking fountains, so visitors should bring their water bottles.
In conclusion, Damper Creek Reserve offers a peaceful and beautiful escape in the heart of urban Melbourne. It is a great place for families and friends to reconnect with nature or enjoy some solitude.
