Dryandra Woodland National Park

Dryandra Woodland National Park is a major conservation area located in Western Australia.

It spans approximately 50 kilometers and is managed by the Western Australian Department of Parks and Wildlife. The park is characterized by transitional flora and fauna between the moister jarrah forests and the semi-arid wheat belt. It is home to approximately 98 bird species, native marsupial fauna, and extensive areas of Banksia ser. Dryandra. The woodland is situated close to the boundary between the Mallee and Avon Wheatbelt biogeographic regions.

Dryandra Woodland is home to almost 800 native flora species, including 15 declared priority species. It also provides protection for several threatened fauna species, such as the woylie, bilby, mala, boodie, and marl. The park includes the barna mia animal sanctuary, which offers extra protection for these species.

In the early 1900s, the park was used for harvesting bark from brown mallet trees. Today, the park has replanted forests for timber production, which is managed under a long-term plan. Conservation studies have shown that the managed harvesting does not have a detrimental impact on the fauna habitat.

Dryandra is of significant cultural importance to the Wiilman subgroup of the Aboriginal Noongar peoples. The park contains important archaeological sites, including an ochre pit and rock art. The land within the park was classified as a state forest in 1903 for the protection of water catchments and growing wandoo and mallet forests.
