Description
Home of James Halliday’s Wine of the Year (in 2019 for the 2017 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling).
Duke’s Vineyard is an award-winning, ten-hectare vineyard in the cool-climate Great Southern wine region of Western Australia, widely regarded as one of the best premium Riesling producers in Australia and also offers several Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The cool-climate vineyard produces age-worthy wines of elegance, structure and finesse. The vineyard is a unique site that sits at the feet of the ancient granite Porongurup peaks with views of the Stirling Range to the north. It is characterised by warm ripening days and cooler nights tempered with maritime breezes.
Duke and Hilde Ranson established the vineyard in 1999. In 2019, they received 99 points and Wine of the Year Award from Halliday for the 2017 Riesling, a first for an Australian Riesling.
Experienced, award-winning winemaker Ben Cane and his partner Sarah Date took the reins in April 2022 when Duke retired. With Ben at the helm, the wines continue to be concise and of excellent quality.
