Eagle Bay Residence

A client brief of a simple and relaxed beach house, opened the opportunity for this comfortable beach house, nestled amongst the treetops in Eagle Bay.

The owners of this Eagle Bay Residence wanted a home that offered a simple and modern living arrangement that blended with the surrounding bush setting.

The house was built on a sloping site of approximately 4000 sqm in Eagle Bay and was sensitively located within the native flora of gums and grass trees on the site. The natural palette of stones and timbers throughout the house, as well as the careful consideration of the site contours, allows for the warm and relaxed home to sit comfortably within the landscape.

Three parallel-rammed limestone walls anchor the building to the site and form a private courtyard at the entry of the house. Teak sliding screens enclose this space providing a secure area for the family dog. A series of eco-ply structures created within and around these walls form the main habitable rooms. All habitable rooms benefit from northerly views through the treetops, with glimpses of the ocean.
