Edward Hunter Bush Reserve

Located in the township of Moe, Edward Hunter Bush Reserve is a large patch of native remnant vegetation.

It is approximately 58 hectares and is one of the largest patches of native remnant vegetation in the foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges in the Latrobe Valley. The reserve is bound by Coalville Road to the east, Borrmans Street to the south, Wirraway Street to the west, Service and Dwyer Roads to the northwest, and the Princes Highway to the north.

The reserve offers walking tracks of various lengths, ranging from 700m to 5km, that lead visitors to a lake with viewing platforms. There are well-formed walking tracks with naturalized sections and some tripping hazards. Visitors can access a map of the reserve and information about plants and animals at the main entrance on Coalville Road. The reserve also has two carparks and a covered seating area. Visitors can enjoy picnicking, watching ducks on the lake, or fishing.

Edward Hunter Bush Reserve has a range of walking track circuits that allow visitors to appreciate nature's beauty. The Coral Fern Walk is a 750m gentle walk that showcases a wide range of flowering shrubs, orchids, and fungi in season. The Heart Starter Circuit is a 2.73km track with steep sections, narrow naturalized sections, and some tripping hazards. The George Toye Track is a 1.26km gentle downhill stroll with a scenic view into the Lincoln Street gorge.

The reserve is open to visitors all year round, but spring is the ideal time to visit when the floral explosion is at its peak. Visitors can see a wide range of flowering shrubs, orchids, and fungi in season.
