Ellis Brook Valley Reserve

Tourist attractions

Ellis Brook Valley Reserve, Martin, WA 6110

Description

Ellis Brook Valley, is recognised as the richest wild flower location in the Perth Metropolitan Area. It has over 500 species of wild flowers in a beautiful hidden valley only a 35min drive from Perth

It is a rich breeding site and home for many native and visiting birds, including cockatoos, parrots, pardalotes, splendid fairy wrens and wedge-tailed eagles, just some of the over 116 species of birds at the site. It is also home to our furry residents including kangaroos, echidnas, possums, bats and other native wildlife.

There are four walk trails of varying degrees of difficulty, ranging from the 'Easy Walk Trail', which provides wheel chair access to the bushland, to the more difficult 'Sixty Foot Falls Trail', which takes in sweeping views across Perth from the top of the waterfall and past the Old Barrington Quarry.

Springtime, from mid-September to early November, is the best time to visit the Valley, with the wildlife and flowers at their peak and after good rainfall.

A picnic area with 2 barbecue facilities with one being wheel chair accessible, picnic shelters, seating, tables and composting toilets are on site near the Honeyeater Hollow Picnic Area.

Parking bays are available at the picnic area and in the heart of the valley near the start of the sixty foot falls trail, however, parking cannot be guaranteed during peak times so make sure you get there early.
