Description
Fingal Beach Cape Schanck is a stunning beach located along the Coastal Trail between Fingal Picnic Ground and Gunnamatta in Victoria, Australia.
Accessing the beach requires climbing more than 400 steps, making it a challenge for only the adventurous.
Aside from the adventure of reaching the beach, visitors can enjoy a long stretch of sand surrounded by reefs and rocks. Swimming and surfing are not recommended due to the strong waves and rocks, but visitors can still sunbathe, walk, and admire the beautiful scenery.
The best time to visit Fingal Beach Cape Schanck is between October and April when the weather is warmer and the sea is calmer. During this period, visitors can relax on the sand and fully enjoy the surroundings. It is advised to avoid visiting during winter when the weather is harsh, the waves are stronger, and the climb down to the beach becomes more challenging due to slippery steps.
To reach Fingal Beach Cape Schanck, visitors can access the Coastal Trail from Cape Schanck Road. The walk to the beach takes approximately 30 minutes each way, but it is important to note that it involves a steep climb down and back up steep stairs. Therefore, it is recommended to have a good level of fitness before attempting this adventure. Additionally, dogs are not allowed on the beach or on the Coastal Trail.
