Francois Peron National Park is known for its contrasting red cliffs, white beaches and blue waters. It has a fascinating pastoral history, and offers a wilderness experience to four-wheel-drivers.
Francois Peron National Park was once a pastoral station, and you can reach the Peron Heritage Precinct and old homestead by two-wheel drive to experience what life would have been like on a remote sheep station.
Turquoise lagoonA small campground with gas BBQs and toilets is located at Big Lagoon and there is a site for launching boats nearby. Canoes or sea kayaks are a great way to explore the lagoon.
Take the high viewCape Peron, at the park’s northerly tip, has picnic tables, toilets, interpretive signs and beach access. An impressive array of marine life can be seen from two lookouts perched on the cliff at nearby Skipjack Point Lookout.
FishingCattle Well between Big Lagoon and South Gregories, offers the chance to wet a line and catch a feed of whiting. Bottle Bay, Gregories and South Gregories lie within a few kilometres of each other on the northern beaches of the park. Herald Bight, the only campsite on the eastern side of the park offers some protection from the prevailing south-westerly winds. Small boats can be launched from the beach with care at some of these locations.
Your safety
It’s great to escape everyday life and visit a park or reserve in WA. It is also important to us that you return safely to your family and friends. Always remember it is really important to plan when to visit. Read this safety information about swimming, bushwalking, fishing, snorkelling and, paddling and kayaking. Consider traveling with a personal location beacon (PLB). In the event you need to be rescued it could save your life! - Swimming is not recommended at Cape Peron due to the meeting of two strong currents.

AccessA high-clearance, four-wheel drive is essential to travel beyond the Peron Heritage Precinct. The tracks of deep soft sand offer challenging conditions for drivers. Low clearance vehicles, caravans and large trailers cannot be used on these deeply rutted tracks - only camper trailers and dinghies are suitable.
