Description
The Freycinet Trail in Whyalla is a 12-kilometre long coastal trail that is popular among hikers, cyclists, and drivers.
It begins at the northern end of Fitzgerald Bay and follows the coastline to the southern tip of the bay at Point Lowly. The trail includes hiking, cycling, and driving components that are signposted with trail markers and interpretive signage. The Fitzgerald Bay hiking trail is four kilometres long and takes you through dunes, pebble beaches, and bushland. The remaining eight kilometres of the trail are suitable for hiking, cycling, and driving, offering spectacular ocean views. Facilities such as parking, camping, and toilets are available at the start of the trail, as well as car parking at sectors seven and eight. The trail is suitable for visitors all year round, but it can become busy on weekends. The trail is located in Whyalla, approximately 386 kilometres north of Adelaide, and visitors can reach it by driving, taking public transport, or flying to Whyalla and then hiring a car or taking a taxi.
