Gaagal Wanggaan (South Beach) National Park is a stunning coastal land located between Nambucca Heads and Scotts Head, near Macksville.

It was recognized as a vital spot for state preservation on 23 April 2010, in a joint management agreement with the local Gumbaynggirr People. The park encompasses a variety of natural environments, including a coastal dune system, littoral rainforest, shrubland, and estuarine mangroves. These environments are home to migratory wildlife and endangered species.

Visitors to the park can enjoy a range of water activities such as kayaking, swimming, boating, and fishing. The park offers a unique marine playground perfect for boating, fishing, and canoeing. There are also beach tracks that lead to short forest hikes, allowing visitors to experience the diverse flora and fauna of the park. For those looking to camp, there are secluded camping sites accessible by boat or canoe from Warrell Creek.

The best time to visit the park is between September and April when the weather is mild and the water is warm. During the summer months, the park is a popular destination for swimming, boating, and fishing. It's important to note that the park can be crowded during school holidays, so it's advisable to book accommodation in advance.
