The walking track takes visitors from Echo Point lookout, where they can enjoy awe-inspiring views of the national park, down more than 800 steel and stone steps into the gorgeous Jamison Valley. Originally forged in 1909, the Giant Stairway is an impressive piece of engineering that offers hikers a unique and exhilarating way to experience the natural beauty of the Blue Mountains. As you make your way down the steps, keep an eye out for amazing native flora and fauna that call the bush of the Blue Mountains home. As you descend the Giant Stairway, you will be treated to incredible views of the iconic Three Sisters from the floor of the Jamison Valley. You will also stroll past Federal Pass and travel past the cascading beauty of Katoomba Falls, which is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the trip. The trail culminates at the popular tourist attraction Scenic World, where visitors can take the opportunity to ride the Scenic Railway back to the top, or climb up the steep Furber Steps for even more amazing rainforest vistas. The Scenic Railway has the steepest incline in the world at 52 degrees, and is known for offering an adrenaline-pumping experience. Visitors should note that the walking track is listed as Grade Four, with a very steep gradient and some bushwalking experience recommended.
