Description

Gibraltar Peak is a magnificent mountain located in the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, approximately 26.4 kilometers away from Canberra.

It rises to a height of 1,038 meters and is the 45th highest peak in the Australian Capital Territory. The nearest point of road access to the summit is an unsealed road, while the closest sealed road is the Corin Dam Road.

Hikers have two fantastic tracks to choose from when climbing Gibraltar Peak. The first route is an 8-kilometer return walk from the Dalsetta car park, and the second is a 13-kilometer return journey via the Birrigai Time Trail and the visitor center. Both tracks were created by Makin Trax and have been popular among hikers since their opening in 2012. A viewing platform near the mountain provides breathtaking views.

Visitors should be mindful of keeping the area clean, as some individuals have left litter near the peak. In the past, Australian climbers such as Bryden Allen, Joe Friend, John Fantini, and Keith Bell have climbed Gibraltar Peak and other nearby peaks. The mountain also features a climbing route called Antipodean Atrocities newline.
