Description
The Gondwana Coast Fossil Walk Ulladulla is a two-hour guided tour on fossil-laden rock platforms in Ulladulla Harbour.
Surrounded by fossils up to 270 million years old, this activity offers a unique way to explore Australia's geological history.
Led by enthusiastic volunteers from the Gondwana Coast Fossil Walk Incorporated, the tour is suitable for visitors of all ages. You'll learn about the rich history of the Shoalhaven area and its geological significance, marvel at the well-preserved marine fossils, and discover the diversity of ancient creatures.
During the two-hour tour, you'll walk on flat and sometimes uneven rocky terrain. It's recommended to wear sensible protective non-slip footwear, bring sun protection, a water bottle, and snack food for your comfort and safety.
The Gondwana Coast Fossil Walk Ulladulla is available all year round, but visiting during low tide allows for a better appreciation of the fossils. Booking in advance is important to secure a spot, as the activity is facilitated by volunteers who provide a knowledgeable and unforgettable experience.
To get to Ulladulla Harbour, it is a three-hour drive or four-hour train ride south of Sydney. If traveling by car, follow the Princes Highway to Ulladulla and park at the Ulladulla Civic Centre, which is a short walk away from the harbour.
