Goold Island National Park

Goold Island National Park is a serene oasis located 17 km offshore from Rockingham Bay's Cardwell coast.

It is part of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area and is situated approximately 1,250 km northwest of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Goold Island has a rich history, being a cherished place for many generations of ancestors of the Bandjin peoples. The island still holds remnants of their legacy, such as shell middens and stone fish traps. In 2005, the Bandjin people included Goold Island within Queensland and Australia's first Traditional Use of Marine Resources Agreement.

Camping is a popular option for those who want to experience the natural beauty of the island up close. Campers should bring their own equipment and water. Access to the island can be done by sea kayak, private boat, or ferry. It's important to be aware of the presence of marine stingers in the water during warmer months.

Neighbouring the Goold Island are the smaller Brook Islands, consisting of North, Tween, Middle, and South islands. The first three islands make up the Brook Islands National Park. These islands are home to a variety of nesting birds, including Torresian imperial-pigeons, bridled terns, black-naped terns, roseate terns, and little terns. The North Brook Island is also known for housing the beach stone-curlew.
