Description

Goolwa History Walks offer three enjoyable walks that take you on a journey through Goolwa's rich history.

The walks showcase a range of historical sites around the township, including Cadell Street, Goolwa Wharf Precinct, and Little Scotland. All three walks start at the Goolwa Visitor Information Centre.

Walk 1 is a 900-metre walk along Cadell Street, which takes approximately 50 minutes to complete. Along the way, you will see a range of historical buildings that date back to the early 1900s, including the old Station Masters’ house and the Telegraph Station. You will also see the old Institute building and the Town Hall.

Walk 2 is a 1.3-kilometre walk around the Goolwa Wharf Precinct that takes approximately an hour to complete. This walk takes you back in time to the early settlement days when Goolwa was a bustling port town. Along the way, you will see the old customs house, the old harbor master's residence, and the Signal Point building. You will also get to learn about the paddle steamers that once plied the Murray River.

Walk 3 is a 1.4-kilometre walk that takes you through Little Scotland, which is the oldest residential area of Goolwa. This walk takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete. You will see a range of historic buildings, including the Law Cottage, the Police Station, and the Odd Fellows Hall. You will also get to learn about the early Scottish settlers who established this area.
