Description

Government Gardens in Port Arthur, Tasmania, is a historic and scenic destination that attracts history and nature enthusiasts.

The Gardens are conveniently located between the Church Ruins and the pier, making it an ideal spot to explore while visiting the Port Arthur Historic Site. Established in 1830 as a timber station and later used as a secondary penal colony, the site is a testament to Tasmania's convict past and is listed as a world heritage site.

The ticket grants admittance and two consecutive days to enjoy the attractions. In addition to the Historical Site, there are plenty of other activities on the Tasman Peninsula to keep visitors occupied for 2-3 days or longer. Cliff walks along the coastline, exploring lawns and gardens with seaside views, and visiting oyster shacks to sample local delicacies are just a few options. Those interested in local produce can also visit farm gates where fresh produce is abundant. Chocolate lovers can indulge in treats from local chocolate shops like The Federation Chocolate Factory.
