Description
The Grossmans Mill Picnic Area in Mount Buffalo National Park offers a stunning view of Lake Catani and the surrounding campground and Lakeside Day Visitor Area.
It can be accessed from the main road. Visitors can take a walk around Lake Catani, which passes through Grossmans Mill, and the picnic area also provides parking for the Long Plain walking track. The picnic area is open year-round, but the best time to visit is during the warmer months. Facilities at the Grossmans Mill Picnic Area include picnic tables, public toilets, and parking. Visitors should review safety tips and check for any changed conditions and closures before visiting. Parks Victoria provides facilities and programs to help people of all abilities enjoy their visit to Victoria's parks. Pets, camping, horseback riding, and firearms are not allowed in the park. Visitors are responsible for their own safety and should be prepared for natural hazards and outdoor risks. Ground shooting operations targeting deer will take place in Mount Buffalo National Park from December 2022 to December 2023, but visitors can still access the park during this time. The honesty system for purchasing firewood at Lake Catani Campground has been discontinued. Firewood bags can be purchased at 11AM from a ranger in the campground, or between 9-10AM and 4-5PM from volunteer camp hosts if they are present. If visitors are unable to purchase firewood during these times, they should bring their own from home. Firewood can be purchased for $15 per bag, cash only. Collecting firewood within the National Park is not allowed.
