Grove Hill

Located near Norton Summit in the Adelaide Hills, Grove Hill spans a large secluded valley with many steep hills and gullies.

Grove Hill was founded in 1846 by entrepreneur, plant collector and horticulturalist Charles Giles. The property remains owned by the Giles family to this day.

The wines come from our dry grown, low yielding vineyard established in 1988. The vineyard is very close planted with a vine density of about 8,500 vines per hectare. All pruning, hedging and picking is done by hand. Made in a traditional style, the resulting wines are powerful yet refined.

All of their wines come from our small vineyard located on two very special sites. The main section is situated on the valley floor, which produces Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. A second smaller section sits on a very steep hillside that also contains Pinot Noir. The close planting and steep slopes on these sites mean that they require particular care to look after—with all tasks needing to be done by hand.
