Gumbi Gumbi Gardens Toowoomba is a serene and peaceful garden located within the University of Southern Queensland campus.
The garden was designed in close partnership with the respected historical elders of the local Toowoomba community and the Jarowair people. The symbol of this garden - the gumbi gumbi (Pittosporum angustifolium) - represents knowledge, growth and healing.
The Gumbi Gumbi Gardens are a true representation of the community's culture and heritage. The gardens tell the story of the journey we all take, learning from our past to inform our future. Visitors to the gardens can see and appreciate the creative use of space, different planting styles, and the masterful use of plants that represent both traditional and contemporary values of the region.
The gardens are open for visitors from dusk till dawn every day of the year. Visitors can enjoy the garden at their own pace or join one of the guided tours on offer. The gardens are known to offer visitors solace and tranquillity – making it a perfect place to relax, unwind and connect with nature in a peaceful setting.
The Gumbi Gumbi Gardens are located at the University of Southern Queensland on 487-535 West St in Toowoomba. Visitors can easily access the garden by car or public transport. There is ample parking available at the university, and buses run regularly to the campus from the city center.
