Description
Gunns Plains Cave is a unique limestone show cave located in Gunns Plains, North West Tasmania.
It has been a popular tourist attraction for over a century due to its stunning geological features and rich history. The cave was discovered by Bill Woodhouse in 1906 and has been managed by different people since then. The public section of the cave spans about 275 meters and features a walking track with various cave formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, helictites, and flowstone. There is also a one-kilometer wild cave section that is more difficult to access. The cave is home to a diverse array of wildlife species, including the endangered Tasmanian Giant Freshwater Crayfish, freshwater fish, platypus, eels, cave crickets, spiders, and glow worms. Visitors can book daily tours to explore and learn more about the cave, providing an unforgettable experience enriched with history, geological wonders, and vibrant wildlife.
