Hawera Water Tower

The Hawera Water Tower is a towering structure that dominates the urban landscape of the town of Hawera, New Zealand.

Designed by borough engineer J. C. Cameron, the 54.2-metre tower was completed in 1914 to provide adequate water pressure for firefighting. Despite being tilted by an earthquake soon after its completion, the austere tower remains a popular attraction for visitors to the town.

There are plenty of information boards along the way that visitors may need to stop and read. The tower is open to the public and visitors can grab the key from the neighboring i-SITE to ascend the 215 steps to the top.
