Description
The sweeping arc of Herald Bight is usually protected from the prevailing south-westerly winds.
At the end of a rough, sandy track, this was the location of a pearling camp in the late 1880's and old pearlshells can still be seen in the area. More recently a small fish canning factory and then a fish freezer preserved fish for market. The freezer closed in 1947.
The informal campsite has a toilet. Camping fees apply. There is no drinking water so ensure you bring enough for your stay.
Small boats can be launched from the beach although there a no facilities for this and vehicle access is through very soft sand.
