Description

Herb Guyatt Sanctuary is a nature reserve located at 1-15 Princes Hwy, Wurruk VIC 3850, Australia.

Named after Herb Guyatt, an environmentalist in the Sale region, the sanctuary is a series of billabongs dominated by Red Gums. Wellington Shire Council has replanted indigenous trees and shrubs to enhance the natural values of the reserve.

While walking around Herb Guyatt Sanctuary, visitors can see large Forest Red Gums and River Red Gums, which are important wildlife corridors for birds and animals. There are various bird species in the floodplain woodlands, such as the Superb Fairywren, Eastern Yellow Robin, and Azure Kingfisher. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a view of the Thompson River and the new Pearson Crossing Bridge.

Herb Guyatt Sanctuary is open all year round, allowing visitors to appreciate its natural beauty at any time. To get there, it is about five kilometers from Sale, near the Pearson's Road roundabout. Parking is available, and there are seating areas throughout the sanctuary.
